Keowee Marina in Seneca has been the lake's anchor point for more than four decades, and it shows in how it's handled a gap of its own. Its Cabana, the lakeside seating area known for the Orange Crush cocktail and live entertainment, has also returned for the year. Keowee Shores Grill & Cantina rounds out the south end's regulars circuit, the kind of spot that's been there long enough it doesn't need to announce itself.
None of this is new news to anyone who's lived here a while. What's worth noticing is that the south end just proved it can lose a full-service kitchen and barely miss a beat, because it already had three other places absorbing the traffic.

Sunset Marina, in Six Mile, was known as Gap Hill Marina before the current redevelopment got underway. According to the marina's own project materials, the first set of wet slips was slated for installation beginning in the summer of 2022, with the remaining slips, a new boat store, dry stack storage, and a restaurant and bar to follow. The fuel dock and rental fleet are running, and the ship's store has been remodeled and restocked with the last-minute supplies you'd expect.
The restaurant is not currently open. Sunset Marina's site describes it as part of what the redevelopment "will provide," and its FAQ directs visitors seeking a meal to The Lighthouse, about twenty minutes south by boat. The FAQ also says cooking or grilling is not allowed on rental boats. Food at the marina, for now, means what you can grab at the store.
When planning a north-end meal, note that some older write-ups about the marina reference an on-site restaurant by name. The marina's current guidance directs visitors elsewhere for a sit-down meal.

If you're launching from the north end, plan around the trip rather than the destination. Bring food if you're staying on the water, or budget the twenty minutes south if you want a table. On days you'd rather stay off the boat, Six Mile's Main Street offers additional dining options. Casa Lago Italian Kitchen, a family-owned spot ten minutes north of Clemson and minutes from the lake, and Taco Riendo, a newer arrival in a nearby plaza, are both options for north-end residents who want to eat in town.
The comparison may change when Sunset Marina's restaurant opens. The marina's materials describe it as part of the redevelopment, but do not give a firm opening date.
